A Day In My Life

Over the summer I participated in the Philadelphia Designers Market. I met many wonderful designers and bloggers from around the PA region. I was recently contacted by one of them, Michelle of Michabella Creations, who is also a contributing writer for a fantastic blog, Handmade In PA. She asked me to submit a full day in my life for the blog. I happily obliged and here it is.

A day in the life of Typhaney of Typhaney B. Jewelry.

Be sure to check out all the other great posts and the amazing creative community that Pennsylvania has to offer.

In the local spotlight!

I have a little mention in "The Goods", Philly Mags weekly scoop on shopping, beauty, travel, and home.

Good Morning, Philly Shoppers!
This week we wanted to share with you the fabulous jewelry designs of a local artist — one we’ve known since she owned a crafty Old City boutique. Check out Local Spotlight below to see what she’s doing now. We’ve also got a slideshow of some fashionable fall ensembles found on the sidewalks of Center City, and our latest batch of sales, deals, and events. Plus, there’s fall picks from our Style Squad. Enjoy! — Carrie Denny, Fashion Editor

LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: Typhaney B. Jewelry

The former owner of Old City’s Conspiracy Showroom is turning out designs we want to get our hands on

By Annie Monjar

South Philly jewelry designer Typhaney Shanker knows that when one door closes, it can kick open another — in her case, a thriving, homegrown enterprise that’s turning style-conscious heads across the city.

Since the February closing of Conspiracy Showroom, the Northern Liberties boutique that Shanker owned for three years with two other designers, the jewelry artist has been able to focus on expanding Typhaney B. Jewelry, her imaginative, bohemian collection of earrings, necklaces, and rings. She’s developed a website for the line and started showcasing her hammered brass hoops and howlite necklaces in trunk shows, galleries, and boutiques across the region. “I didn’t want to compete with myself when I had the store, so I never sold anywhere else,” she laughs.

Working from her home studio, Shanker combines natural and vintage materials to create quirky, whimsical pieces, like a copper chain necklace featuring a leather pendant and hand-selected sea shells. Her pieces can dress up an office cardigan or compliment an evening cocktail dress, and with earrings and necklaces starting at $25, Shanker backs up accessory style with sensibility.

You can find Typhaney B. Jewelry at the Three Sirens Boutique, or in Rittenhouse’s Square Peg Artery & Salvage.  Be sure to check out the (new) website, too, at typhaneyb.com

I have been invited to participate in a Ladies night trunk show at the Domus Building!
October 14th, @ 7pm Domus Club House 1st Floor 3411 Chestnut St. Philadelphia, PA

domus

Latin for "home," do-mus is eight stories of luxury lifestyle and amenities.

Domus is the most coveted residence in Philadelphia's most vibrant and distinctive neighborhood rising eight stories high in University City, the academic heart of Philadelphia. Its 290 luxury apartments are perched above an eclectic range of restaurants, shops and internationally known retailers.

Sleek. Edgy. Infinitely flexible. Domus offers a variety of residence options, so your home can be as unique as you are. Add to that the building's spaciousness. Its sweeping views. Its superior finishes of natural stone, hardwood, and slate. Its plush interiors and stainless steel appliances. And its amazing, resort-style amenities.
